curious_cosmos | Character Profile: Benjamin Sisko

Benjamin Lafayette Sisko was born in 2332 in New Orleans on the planet Earth, and missing in action in 2375. He joined Starfleet Academy in 2350, and graduated in 2354. Service prior to his posting at Deep Space Nine includes the USS Livingston, the USS Okinawa, the USS Saratoga, and the Utopia Planetia Shipyards, where he worked on the USS Defiant prototype.

He has been married twice: once to Jennifer Sisko, who died in the Battle of Wolf 359, and once to Kassidy Yates-Sisko. He has two children: Jake Sisko, and another unnamed child (as of the end of Deep Space Nine).

Shortly after being posted to Deep Space Nine in 2369, Commander Sisko was identified as the Emissary by the Bajoran prophets, which made him quite reluctant and uncomfortable because of his concerns about its effects on his role as station Commander and as a Starfleet Officer. During his tenure as station Commander, he sent expeditions through the Bajoran Wormhole to explore the Gamma Quadrant as well as dealt with continual issues from the Maquis, the Cardassians, and the Dominion. Later, he was a key strategist as well as a frontline commander in the Dominion War. He was promoted to Captain in 2371.
