Her fingers still trailing lightly in the water, Evelyn closed her eyes and tried to focus as an indistinct whisper seemed to interweave with the strains of the song she was still hearing, as if a part of it. The words echoed at first, as if from a distance, then slowly faded into something she could understand, though still somewhat indistinct.
She heard the slight hesitance from the entity as it stated her place of origin, and wondered at it.
"Your song is beautiful," she said, quietly, simply, with open sincerity, and the dulcet resonance of her voice carried the modulated cadence of someone far, far older than she appeared to be. Someone long accustomed to walking on many worlds. "What should we call you?"
