"A couple... hundred years?" Evelyn echoed, blinking. She supposed it shouldn't be too much of a shock-- life spans of even just the various organisms on Earth were vastly different from one another. Still, though, his face hardly seemed aged at all, and she wondered briefly if he'd been making some sort of joke. He looked barely in his thirties, from all appearances, but when she lifted her gaze to his eyes...

Well, they told a different story. A long story. An old story, ancient, and there was something else... something she couldn't quite put her finger on... as if she had somehow been a part of that story...

A shiver passed through her when he spoke of his TARDIS, of traveling through time and space. Through the Time Vortex. Time Vortex... Somehow there was an instant association in her mind when she heard the words, linking them inextricably to the crackling, chaotic "Storm Tunnel" which she transversed in her Travels.

Once again, and certainly not for the first time, she had the rather unnerving sensation that this lifetime she remembered, her life as Evelyn Alvar, was only the tiniest fragment of the life she had actually lived.

And then she saw the Doctor's coat billowing behind him as he swept after the glowing swarm towards the waterfall, and she broke into a run, rushing to keep up.
