She noticed that he hadn't answered her question about the TARDIS but decided not to press the issue for the time being. But then, two could play at the game of conversational evasion. She may be a little clumsy at it (okay, really clumsy), but she wasn't ready to overshare just yet, despite her rather awkward slip.
